Joan's Gardens Challenge #27

Morning all!  Hope you're off to a great start like I am!
We got some MUCH NEEDED rain yesterday and it made me happy NOT to have to go out and water everything again in hopes of keeping it alive!  It also gave me time to work on my challenge card for the current challenge at Joan's Gardens which is:
  • Make a birthday card
  • Use Black and pink with some green
  • Use leaves
  • Have a pattern design paper for your background
Would you like to see what I came up with???

So ... what do you think??
I just love my new Kaisercraft 'The Lake House' paper pack (thanks Joan) and couldn't wait to put it to use.  What better than for this challenge ... the colors were perfect.  I have done some 'fancy cutting' around the pattern on the paper to create my background ... then used the remnant to create my homemade flower.  My sentiment panel is created by using a Memory Box 'Quinn Flourish' #98267 as a backdrop for my Inkadinkado sentiment.  The pink pearls are by Kaiser and were also purchased at Joan's Gardens

My flower is homemade using the technique learned at Joan's Gardens by Selma Stevenson.  I have used the McGill 'Floral Petals' P/N 64503 punch for my petals and the PunchBunch 6 point snowflake for the stamen.  My PunchBunch flower making kit gave me all the tools needed to create this beauty.  My leaves were created using Cheery Lynn Designs 'Olive Branches' B147 and Marianne leaf LR0156 dies.  I also inked the edges of the Olive Branch leaves with Momento 'Banboo Leaves' ink before curling them with the reverse tweezers from my flower making kit.  A touch of softness was added by using organza black ribbon from Michaels and making a double bow using my Bow Easy.  All items highlighted in RED were purchased from Joan's Gardens ... be sure to check out her store ... and she has a TON of new things coming from CHA.  You'll want to see all the fun new things she'll be carrying!

Here's a quick peek at the inside.

Qualifying Challenges:
Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge - Celebration
Crafts 4 Eternity - Brilliant Birthdays
Inspire Me Friday - Always Anything Goes
The Poodles Parlour - Anything Goes
The Stamp Man Challenge - Anything Goes/Celebration

Before I leave you today, I wanted to share with you the pretty flowers I picked from my front gardens before the storms came yesterday.  This little (but fragrant) bouquet is of Heliotrope, Lavender & Cone Flowers.  How wonderful it is to step out your front door and be able to put together a quick, small bouquet for your kitchen.  Always puts a smile on my face when I see fresh flowers INSIDE & OUTSIDE my home!

Have a fabulous Friday everyone and thanks SO MUCH for your time & patience.  I know I can get wordy at times ... but hey ... I have a lot to share!  LOL!

6x6 Holiday Gate Card w/Quick Directions

Hello everyone and thanks so much for stopping by today!!
While doing some blog commenting, I saw THIS creation over on a lady named Laine's (DREAM LAINE) blog, and knew I just had to give it a try myself.  Quickly I thought that last years Christmas Emporium paper pack from Graphic45 would be the perfect paper for this design.  Here's what I came up with . . . what do you think??

6x6 Christmas Gate Card with Step Out
Here are a couple of side views . . .

The background plaid paper is a 12x12 sheet that I had in my stash (sorry no name was provided), which kind of tells me that it just might be from one of those large 12x12 DCWV holiday paper packs.  Also the chipboard embellishments on the front are from K&Company.

QUICK DIRECTIONS . . .
1 sheet of 12x12 cardstock cut in half (gives you two 6 x 12 cards).
Score at 3" and 9" to make your gate fold.
1 strip of cardstock 4" x 5 3/4" ... scored at 1", 2", 3" for your inside center pop out panel.

TIME TO GET CREATIVE and HAVE FUN!!
The possibilities are ENDLESS ...

Thanks to Feline Playful, I have found several challenges I think this card qualifies for ...

Pixie Dust Studio - Christmas
DRS Designs - Christmas in July
DL.ART Thankful Thursday - Christmas in July
Stamp n Doodle - Christmas in July

The Sisterhood of Crafters Challenge

Hello blogging friends!  It's time for another fun challenge

Today's challenge is:

DIAMONDS, PEARLS AND LACE
(card or project using at least one of these items)

Today's sponsor is:

and one lucky winner will receive:

Bugaboo was kind enough to offer images to each of the 'sistahs' and I selected an image called 'Selma & Gus + Instructions'.  What fun images!

I've had this piece of lace laying on my worktable and today was the perfect day to use it!  The background design paper is from the DCWV 12x12 Linens paper pack and I have colored my images with Prisma pencils/gamsol and Prisma color markers.  Fiskar pearls were used as embellishments on this CAS creation.

I was had so much fun creating with this image, I decided to create a second card using another fun Bugaboo digi image.  This one is called "Stella Peeker  - Another Drink".  As far as product used on this card, I used up several scraps that were laying around on the worktable and Prisma pencils/gamsol were used for the coloring.

As you can see in this close-up, SU Crystal Effects was used on anything that would have been made from glass!  I just love how that looks and find that people are really drawn to this type of added detail!

We hope you'll come join in the fun at The Sisterhood and if you are looking for more inspiration, be sure to pop over and check out what my 'sistahs' have created for you today!

Thanks for stopping by and big HUGS from OHIO!

Creating a 'Scene' ...

Today I'm still playing with ink, masking and stamps to create SCENIC creations.  This card was made with three challenges in mind ...
Craft A Scene - In the Garden
Wild Orchid #55 - Round in Circles

I really enjoy trying to create backgrounds for the fabulous images that are out there and I figure if I keep trying, SOME DAY I'll get good at it!  LOL!!

Here are the items used in making this card:
Paper - white cardstock, SU 2 sided design paper
Stamps - Crafty Secrets 'Garden Girls SL21', Stampscapes 'Leafy Branch - 277F'
Inks - Versafine black, Tim Holtz 'broken china', Momento 'cantaloup, bamboo leaves', Colorbox 'rose coral'
Accessories - Wild Orchid flowers, Sizzix 656064 leaf, Kaiser pearls, Spellbinder Heart Circles die, sponge daubers, Prismacolor markers, Eclipse masking, SU 1-1/4" circle punch, Spellbinder Classic Circles die

The sentiment was computer generated and printed right onto the patterned paper.  This is a saying I've heard for years and find myself quoting from time to time!
Do you ever feel that way????

Well I'm working on another altered project to share with you soon so I'd best get back to work.
Thanks so much for stopping by and thanks for all your kind words!  It's always nice to hear your work has inspired someone else!

HUGS from OHIO!

Inspired by others . . .

Good Evening fellow crafters!
Today I thought I'd play a couple 'Sunday' challenges and after looking through those challenges offered up today over at Feline Playful, this is the direction I headed ... animals, jungle, scenic ... well you'll see what I mean.  I actually created two cards so I'll share them both with you.

INSIDE SENTIMENT

I bought this GinaK set a short wile back and was anxious to ink it up.  And where better to find inspiration than one of GinaK's design team members.  This time I drew inspiration from Theresa Momber (Crafting The Web) and this creation is actually a combination of two of her cards.  I love masking & creating a scene and to tell you the truth ... I just don't do it often enough!!!

Products used on these two cards are:
Stamps - GinaK 'Wild About You', Stampscapes (birds), Just For Fun
Inks - Momento (Cantaloupe, Bamboo Leaves, Tuxedo Black), Colorbox (Rose Coral), SU (Soft Sky), Tim Holtz (Broken China, Frayed Burlap), Stazon (Black)
Accessories -  Eclipse masking, Post It Notes, Sponge Daubers, Spellbinder (Labels 9), Sizzix (656064) leaves, Michaels gingham ribbon, ScorPal

INSIDE SENTIMENT

I think both of these creations will make excellent masculine birthday cards.  Seems you can never have enough masculine creations in your stash.  I also decided to play around with 'score lines' on these creations in  hopes that I could add a little dimension since I can't use my typical flowers & bling!!

The challenges I'd like to enter these cards into tonight are:
Fashionable Stamping Challenge #26 - Let's Get Messy & Inky
Gingerloft Challenge - Silhouette
Here Come The Boys - Jungle Theme
Joanna Sheen Challenge - Animal Crackers
Stampalot Challenge - What's Your Crafty Passion (love creating a 'scene' when I have extra time)
Stamptacular Sunday - To DIE for ... (card #2)

Thanks so much for stopping by and being so kind with your comments!  It truly means the world to me!!  Wishing you each a FABULOUS week ahead!

Aren't Butterflies Beautiful ...

Morning All!
This week's challenge at Joan's Gardens is based on the BUTTERFLY!  And since I had a Cheery Lynn Designs butterfly die that I had never used yet ...
today's the day.

The challenge requirements are:
  • Make a butterfly card
(Cheery Lynn Designs DL160 Large Lace Faerie Queen Butterfly)
  • Use green and yellow
(SU Daffodil Delight card base, Best Creation Glitter Paper Outline sheet)
  • Use something from nature (for instance a fern)
(Bumble Bee stickers, Sizzix greenery branch in SU Old Olive and a flower made using the Cheery Lynn 'Build a Flower #1' die set)
  • Have at least 3 layers
(Base card, Pattern Paper Outline, Cheery Lynn DL102 ' French Pastry' die ... Butterfly, flower & Greenery)

I just LOVE the new Cheery Lynn Designs 'Build a Flower #1' die set that Selma Stevenson helped design for Cheery Lynn.  I've die cut the the pieces with white cardstock then used Momento 'Cantaloupe' & 'Bamboo Leaves' to set the colors I wanted.   I've also added a touch of sparkle to parts of the butterfly with Stickles 'diamonds'.  The other dies used are the Cheery Lynn Designs 'Fanciful Flourish Small' B117S and the Sizzix #656064 set for the green branch.  I've used the reverse tweezers from my PunchBunch Flower Making Kit (purchased at Joan's Gardens) to add texture to the leaves by pinching & folding.

Here's a little better view of this gorgeous butterfly.  There are also 'angel wings' included in this die set but I left them off for this design (mainly because I'm not sure how they are supposed to work!  LOL ... have to talk to Joan/Selma about that).  Originally I had only inked the body of the butterfly with Momento 'bamboo leaves' die then at the last minute I thought it needed more color and went over it with the Tim Holtz 'Peeled Paint' marker.  The rest of the butterfly was colored by using Momento Inks and sponge daubers.

A few other qualifying challenges:
365 Cards: Day 141 - Delicate
Charisma Cards #28 - Your favorite animal (hope butterflies count)
Just Inspirational Challenge - Photo inspiration

Divas by Design - Anything Goes
Fab 'n' Funky - Make your own flower
The House that Stamps Built - Outdoors or Wildlife
Craft My Life (new challenge) - July - Anything Goes

I'm so glad you stopped by today and I hope you'll come join in the fun over at Joan's Gardens.  Not only does she have a FABULOUS array of products you can purchase in her shoppe ... but her Thursday challenges are GREAT FUN and can sometimes be down right challenging!!!  She went easy on us this week!  If you take the time and join in Joan's challenge, I'll be sure to pop on over ... take a peek ... and leave you some love!  I find it amazing how much inspiration I draw from everyone else!!

Shelly's Images Challenge

WOW!  Has 2 weeks gone by already?
Yes it has and that means it's time for a new challenge at Shelly's Images.

But before I share today's challenge with you, I'd like to announce the winner from the 28 comments here on my blog from the last Shelly's Images challenge posting who will receive a $3 gift voucher for Shelly's Images Store.  And that lucky winner, chosen by Random.Org is:
  #24
Mary J Scrapper said...
Very nice tag. Thanks for playing along at Jackson Digital Expressions
Congratulations Mary J Scrapper ... please email me at akadafney@yahoo.com so I can send along our winner's voucher!  I can't seem to locate your email address in your profile.  Please contact me by July 26th or I shall have to draw another name.

Now on to today's challenge . . .

Today we are jumping on the CHRISTMAS IN JULY bandwagon with an ANYTHING GOES challenge ... as long as it deals with Christmas!  We also have a big sale starting today ... be sure to check it out!

REMEMBER TO USE THE CODE:  ChristmasInJuly
WHEN CHECKING OUT TO GET YOUR 40% DISCOUNT

The design team creations today will be showcasing Shelly's "NATIVITY" digi image.  If you are getting an early start on your holiday cards, you'll want to pop on over to Shelly's Images Store for some awesome bargains and then if you need inspiration, check out Shelly's Images Challenge Blog.

For today's card,  I have used Prismacolor markers to color this fabulous image and chalked out around the image to hopefully make it POP a bit more.  Various holiday designer papers were used for the design layout and actually they are scraps from last season.  It's always nice to be able to use up some of my 'scrap pile'.  The snowflake is actually white foam which I've inked and embossed.  I bought a whole pack of different sizes last year at Joann's.  I've added Stickles Diamonds in the center.

Here's a close up so you can see the detail in Shelly's image!
Since I don't use Copics (probably the only person on the planet who doesn't own Copics), I'm always afraid I'm not showcasing the fine detail Shelly puts into her digi images.  But I do my best with what I have.

A few other qualifying challenges are:
Creatalicious Challenge - Christmas in July
Cards for Men #15 - Christmas in July
Hookedoncraft Challenge - Christmas in July
Lollipop Crafts - Christmas in July
The Crazy Challenge - Christmas in July
There She Goes - Christmas in July
Totally Stampalicious - Christmas in July

Thanks SO MUCH for stopping by today and I hope you'll come join in our challenge fun at Shelly's Images!  Remember ... Shelly's Images challenges are now being held TWICE A MONTH ... the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month!  That gives you even MORE TIME to join in our fun!  Hope to see you there!!

Double Dutch Card Tutorial

Happy Wednesday blogging friends!

Today I have another fancy fold tutorial to share with you.  And as I have said before, the original tutorial came from Splitcoast Stampers Resources but I know not everyone is a member of SCS so I'm just wanting to share some of these fabulous tutorials with all of you.  You can also click the TUTORIALS TAB (below my header) to see more creations using this folding style.

When I was at Joan's Gardens in Indiana last week visiting with some 'past and new' crafting friends, one lady (waving Hi to Jayne ...) asked me if I'd do a tutorial on my DOUBLE DUTCH cards.  So, here we go ...

These are the cards I made today ... you can go as fancy or as plain as you desire.

SUPPLIES:
One 4 3/16" x 9" piece of cardstock for card base - Scored at 5 1/2"
One 2" x 8 1/2" piece of cardstock for Dutch Fold bottom - Scored at 2 1/8" and 6 3/8"
One 4" x 3 1/4" piece of cardstock OR patterned paper for your layer (unless you border punch your front flap, then this panel will be slightly smaller)
Scoring Tool
Adhesive
Your choice of Images or Die Cuts

Using your choice of adhesive (I like score tape for this job), adhere your 2" x 8 1/2" gate folded piece of cardstock to the lower BACK of your base card panel.

This fancy fold is easy to do and is a nice change from the usual single fold cards people are used to receiving!  Why not give it a try today and if you do, I'd LOVE to see what you create!  Please feel free to leave me a comment here on my blog OR you can email me direct at akadafney@yahoo.com

Products I have used for my creations are:
Papers:  White cardstock, KaiserCraft 'The Lake House' designer paper, Silver metallic cardstock
Ink:  Versafine black
Stamps:  Repeat Impressions, Serendipity, Stamps Happen, Inc, Crafty Secrets 'Angel Blessings' & 'Grand Greetings'
Accessories:  Martha Stewart Doily Lace border punch, Kaiser pearls, Martha Stewart Butterfly punch, Spellbinder Classic Circle dies, Spellbinder Beaded Circle die, Michaels Holiday wired silver ribbon, Prismacolor markers, Silver Sakura Jelly Roll Glitter pen

Qualifying Challenges for these creations are:
Crazy Amigo Challenge - Free Theme
LEJ Designs Challenge - Anything Goes
Top Tip Tuesday #81 - It's All About Circles
The Artistic Stamper Creative Team July Challenge - Circles
Gingerloft Challenge - Fancy Folds
Joanna Sheen Challenge - Going Round in Circles

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you've found inspiration in my creations.
